OKLAHOMA CITY
Oklahoma is
making it easier for students to transfer from community colleges to
universities, according to a report by the Southern Regional Education Board.
Oklahoma
guarantees that students earning associate’s degrees can transfer in as juniors
to public four-year colleges in Oklahoma.
All general education requirements transfer, along with many
program-specific classes, either as course equivalents or electives.
Each year, faculty from across the state revise transfer
guides that list courses at each college and the universities to which the credits
will transfer.
That helps eliminate confusion as well as wasted courses and
expenses, said Dave Spence, board president.
“Effective college transfer policies are key to helping
students who earn credits from two or more institutions apply all of their
credits toward a college degree,” Spence said.
