Dr. Elizabeth Cantwell is Washington State University’s first female president in its 135-year history. She took the reins of leadership at Washington State in April 2025 after serving as president of Utah State University. In addition to bachelor’s and doctoral degrees, Cantwell earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. The president’s office works collaboratively with a diverse community of faculty, staff, students, alumni and strategic partners to solidify the university as a driver of excellence and positive change in the state of Washington and nationally.
