The seventh president of Norfolk State University, a public historically Black university in Norfolk, Virginia, Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston is a psychologist with experience in practice, academia and administration. Since beginning her presidency in June 2019, she has focused on making the 90-year-old institution an HBCU for the modern world while remaining grounded in its heritage. Her vision is student success, opportunity, access, affordability, growth and sustainability. Adams-Gaston believes in collaboration and strategic partnerships with local, regional, state, national and international stakeholders.
