University of Arkansas Earmarks $64 Million For Doctoral Fellowships
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.
Academic departments at the University of Arkansas celebrated spring with the bloom of $64 million in new funding for graduate fellowships.
The money is part of a $300 million gift the school received last year from the Walton Family Foundation, $100 million of which was designated for endowing the university’s graduate school. Of the $100 million, $24 million will now be used to support 41 distinguished doctoral fellowships, each paying $30,000; and $40 million will fund 214 doctoral academy fellowships. Academy fellowships will provide $5,000 to augment graduate-student stipends typically ranging from $6,000 to $12,000 a year.
