SU JIN GATLIN JEZ has been appointed executive director of the California Competes Leadership Council. She currently serves as associate professor of public policy and administration at California State University, Sacramento. She holds a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in economics and a doctorate in administration and policy analysis from Stanford University.

Sidhu School of Business and Leadership at Wilkes University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MBA and doctoral degree in management science from Rutgers University.

DWYANE SMITH has been named interim president of Harris-Stowe State University. He currently serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Harris-Stowe. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Truman State University, a master’s degree in education administration from Truman State and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

KENOYE K. EKE SR. has been appointed vice president for institutional advancement and development at Jarvis Christian College. He previously served as provost, senior vice president for academic affairs, and visiting professor of political science at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Alabama A&M University and a master’s degree and doctorate in political science from Atlanta University.

New Department of Education Rule Impacts Defrauded Students

The U.S. Department of Education has released its new Borrower Defense to Repayment rule, designed to give students debt relief in cases where they took out loans to pay for fraudulent schools. The new version, which goes into effect on July 1, 2020, makes it harder for federal student loan borrowers to have their debts forgiven, enforcing stricter criteria.
