Johnson earned a bachelor’s, an M.D. and a master’s from Harvard University.

He was an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering and associate director of the Honors College at the University of Missouri. Triplett earned a bachelor’s from Florida A&M University, a master’s from Florida State University and a doctorate from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
