ONTARIO WOODEN has been named associate vice chancellor for innovative, engaged and global education in the Division of Academic Affairs at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). He was dean of the University College at NCCU. Wooden earned a bachelor’s from Albany State University, and a master’s and a doctorate from Indiana University Bloomington.

E. Illinois University Union Skips Pay Raise to Save 29 Jobs

CHARLESTON, Ill. ― Eastern Illinois University President David Glassman says the members of a union that represents faculty and others on campus have agreed to postpone a pay raise to keep 29 instructors employed.

Court: Chipmaker Marvell owes Carnegie Mellon $278M, not $1.54B

NEW YORK ― A federal appeals court reduced a judgment against chipmaker Marvell Technology by more than $1.25 billion, but still says the company owes Carnegie Mellon University $278 million for patent infringement.

DAVID GOMEZ has been named president of Hostos Community College of the City University of New York. He was interim president of Hostos Community College. Gomez earned a bachelor’s from the University of Albany, State University of New York, and a master’s and a doctorate from Columbia University.

The University of Phoenix, which runs an online college popular among military veterans, is under federal investigation for possible deceptive or unfair business practices, its parent company the Apollo Education Group told shareholders Wednesday.
