Congressmen Introduce Resolutions To Honor Black Colleges
By Charles Dervarics
New resolutions are pending in Congress to honor the work of historically Black colleges and universities, including a national week to honor HBCUs this fall.
In the House, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., chairman of Congressional Black Caucus, has introduced H.Res. 82, designed to recognize HBCUs and their accomplishments. The resolution also would call on President Bush to issue a proclamation on HBCUs and encourage ceremonies honoring the colleges.
