Carmen Ashhurst is the new director of university communications at the New School University in New York City. She comes to the New School from Radiant Entertainment Inc., a media production and special events planning consultant firm where she was president. Ashhurst earned a bachelor’s degree in government from MacMurray College (Ill.), and a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University.
O. Darryl Butler has been named assistant to the vice president for finance and management for the City College of New York. Previously, he was the director of campus life at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Butler earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from East Tennessee State University, and a master’s degree in corporate communications from Seton Hall University.
Jennifer E. Roseman has been named vice chancellor for institutional advancement for the Community Colleges of Spokane. Prior to joining CCS, Roseman was a journalist for 18 years. Roseman earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from New York University, and a master’s degree in organization leadership from Gonzaga University.
Hinfred McDuffie has been appointed vice president for university advancement at Kentucky State University. For the past six years, McDuffie served as executive director of development at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tuskegee University, and two master’s degrees, one in administration and supervision, and one in general counseling from Alabama State University.
Dr. Barbara Corbett Howard is the new chair of the business and public services division at the Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College. In her career with the college, Howard has served as special assistant to the provost, acting division chair, and assistant division chair. Howard earned a bachelor’s degree in business education from North Carolina College (now North Carolina Central University), a master’s degree in business education from North Carolina Central University, and a doctorate in curriculum supervision and administration in business from the University of Maryland.
