Diverse Docket: Race Discrimination Suit Still on Table

Borough of Manhattan Community College and the chair of its Business Management Department must continue defending a race discrimination suit by an adjunct professor of Nigerian descent, a federal judge has ruled.

Cardona holds a bachelor’s from Springfield College and a master’s from Syracuse University.

KATHRINE SWANSON has been named vice chancellor for student success and engagement at Metropolitan Community College, starting August 3. She was vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Swanson holds a bachelor’s from Northern Michigan University, a master’s from Montana State University and a doctorate from the University of North Texas.

SUSAN L. KRINSKY has been appointed chair of the Law School Admission Council. She is associate dean for student affairs at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Krinsky earned a bachelor’s from Kirkland College (now Hamilton), a master’s from Tulane University and a juris doctor from Yale University.

The Department of Education announced Thursday that it is shelving plans to move forward on a controversial college rating system and instead will offer a tool providing data that allows the user to compare schools to each other.
