Professional Appointments

Dr. Cassandra Manuelito-Kerkvliet has been appointed president of Antioch University Seattle. According to the university, she is the first American Indian woman to lead a non-tribal institution. She was previously president of Diné College. Manuelito-Kerkvliet holds a bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Wyoming and a doctorate from the University of Oregon.

Dr. Angela Batista has been named director of diversity and inclusion at Champlain College (Vt.). She was most recently a high school teacher and counselor. Batista holds a bachelor’s from Brooklyn College, a master’s from the University of Vermont and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Bette R. Bonder has been appointed dean of the College of Science at Cleveland State University. She was serving in an interim role. Bonder
earned a bachelor’s from Washington University, a master’s from Saint Louis University and a doctorate from Northwestern University.
