CU-Boulder expects 5,500 to 5,600 incoming freshmen

BOULDER Colo.

University of Colorado officials expect 5,500 to 5,600 new freshmen on the Boulder campus this fall, based on who has paid their enrollment deposits so far.

A total of 5,977 admitted students had paid enrollment deposits as of Aug. 3, CU officials said Sunday. That was up slightly from the 5,943 students confirmed at a similar point in 2006, when a record 5,617 new freshmen enrolled.

The campus expected between 1,200 and 1,300 new transfer students, similar to last year.

The official campus census will be taken Sept. 14.

As of Aug. 3, CU-Boulder had received 19,817 applications, up 9 percent from last year’s total, the school said.

For confirmed freshmen, the average ACT composite was 25.7, the average SAT total was 1170, and the average high school grade-point average was 3.56, all up slightly from 2006.
