Susan Kazama, Hawai’i Community College

After serving in an interim capacity for one year, in July 2024 Susan Kazama was appointed chancellor of Hawai’i Community College, which has three sites as well as online courses. With a master’s degree in library science, Kazama began her career in the libraries of Maui College and Honolulu Community College, eventually moving into administration. She says her background as a librarian was good preparation to lead a college, and her years of work across the state provides a network of relationships and resources from which she can draw.
