of Southern Mississippi’s
five colleges are submitting $2-million budget cut proposals to the provost.
It’s the first step in the possible elimination of staff, instructors and even
tenured faculty.
university’s response to an anticipated $10 million to $12 million budget
shortfall for fiscal year 2011. To counteract that shortfall, the university
said it is likely that it will need to make $7.5 million in cuts from academic
programs.
