Professional Appointments

Miguel Cairol has been named vice president for administration and finance at New York City College of Technology/CUNY. Previously, he served as acting dean for planning and special assistant to the president. Cairol holds a bachelor’s from California State University, Los Angeles, master’s degrees from The CUNY Graduate Center and from Baruch College/ CUNY and a doctorate from The CUNY Graduate
Center.

Dr. Zenobia L. Hikes has been named vice president for student affairs at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Most recently she was vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Spelman College in Atlanta. Hikes earned a bachelor’s from Spelman, a master’s from Georgia Southwestern University and a doctorate from the University of Delaware.

Dr. Vanessa R. Lancaster has been appointed director of the Felton Laboratory School at South Carolina State University. Most recently she served as the state director for the Teacher Advancement Program for the Milken Foundation and the South Carolina State Department of Education. She earned a bachelor’s from Morris College and a master’s and doctorate from South Carolina State.

Dr. Gordon Nakagawa has been named associate dean of humanities at California State University, Northridge. Most recently he served as interim associate dean and chair of Asian American studies. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio University and a doctorate from Southern Illinois University.

Dr. Christopher Odionu has been named chief information officer at Alabama A&M University. Most recently he was associate vice president and chief information officer at the University of Detroit. He earned a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate from the University of Houston.

Dr. Nathaniel Pollard Jr. has been named executive vice president/provost at Johnson C. Smith University in North Carolina. A former president of Bowie State University, he earned a bachelor’s from Miles College and a doctorate from Oklahoma University.
