Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars 2007
Diverse: Issues In Higher Education established the Sports Scholars Awards to honor undergraduate students of color who have made achieving both academically and athletically a winning combination. Two scholar-athletes — the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s women’s basketball player DeCarol Davis and University of Maryland-Baltimore County track and field standout Isaac Matthews — were selected as Sports Scholars of the Year for best exemplifying the standards of scholarship, athleticism and humanitarianism. Diverse honors Arthur Ashe Jr. by recognizing these student-athletes and salutes DeCarol and Isaac and all of the 2007 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars.
