BOULDER Colo.
Beer sales to the general public will no longer be offered at Coors Events Center for University of Colorado basketball games.
“It’s certainly becoming the norm across the country,” athletic director Mike Bohn said Monday.
Beer will still be available for private groups.
Eleven years ago, CU banned beer sales to the general public during football games at Folsom Field. Athletic department officials said Monday the policy would be extended to Coors Events Center.
“It was Mike Bohn’s decision, and Chancellor (Bud) Peterson was fully supportive of it,” CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard said. “We think this is in the best interest of our total fan experience.”
Colorado had been the only school in the Big 12 to sell beer to the general public at basketball games. No conference schools sell beer at football games.
