KATHLEEN BURKE
KATHLEEN BURKE will become the new chancellor of the South Orange County Community College District after serving eight years as president of Los Angeles Pierce College. She will begin her new role on July 1. Burke earned two bachelor’s degrees from University of California, Irvine, a master’s degree from California State University and a doctorate from Pepperdine University.

TIMOTHY ALVAREZ has been named president of Otero Junior College, effective mid-July. Alvarez has been serving as the Senior Fellow for NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. He earned his doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he also spent 15 years in various leadership and teaching positions.

Bank Donated $30,000 to Watchmaker Initiative
Delaware’s Discover Bank made a $30,000 contribution to the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative on May 15. The contribution is part of the bank’s Community Reinvestment Act compliance efforts that coordinates community development activities.
