JOHN DABIRI has been appointed the Centennial Professor of Aeronautics and Mechanical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). A past faculty member at Stanford, Dabiri holds a bachelor’s in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University as well as a master’s in aeronautics and a Ph.D. in bioengineering from Caltech.

BRUCE A. JOHNSON
BRUCE A. JOHNSON has been appointed dean of mathematics and sciences at Central Piedmont Community College. Associate dean of STEM at the college, he was previously dean of curriculum programs at Roanoke-Chowan Community College. Johnson holds a bachelor’s in mathematics from Central State University, a master’s in applied mathematics from Virginia Tech and is pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education administration at Liberty University.

ERICA MUHL
ERICA MUHL has been named the first female president of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She most recently served as dean and founding executive director of the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation at the University of Southern California (USC). A professor of composition, Muhl is a graduate of California State University, Northridge; the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome; and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. She holds a doctor of musical arts degree from the USC Thornton School of Music.

Professor emerita in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University and past president of the American Educational Research Association, Lee holds a bachelor’s in secondary school English education from the University of Illinois, as well as a master’s in English and a doctoral degree in education from the University of Chicago.

GEETA ANAND has been appointed the first female dean of the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. A professor at the school since 2018, Anand is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who most recently was a foreign correspondent for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal in India. She holds a bachelor’s in history and a certificate in women’s studies from Dartmouth College.
