Watson Spiva received a bachelor’s in economics from Spelman College, a master’s in public policy from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in higher education from Georgia State University.

DEBORAH GORMAN-SMITH has been appointed dean of the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. She currently serves as the Emily Klein Gidwitz Professor in the school. Gorman-Smith received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Illinois University and a master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

EUNSOOK PARK has been named assistant professor of plant microbe interactions at the University of Wyoming. She recently served as a research assistant professor in plant science at Seoul National University. Park received a master’s degree from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

JAMIE MAGUIRE

JAMIE MAGUIRE has been named the first Kenneth and JoAnn G. Wellner Professor at Tufts University. Most recently, she was a tenured associate professor of neuroscience at the university’s School of Medicine. Maguire received a bachelor’s in neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from The George Washington University.

MARIO BERRY has been named acting chief information officer at Texas Southern University. Prior to his new role, he was vice president and chief information officer at Spelman College. Berry earned a bachelor’s from National American University, a master’s from Regis University and is currently a doctoral student at Capella University.

ANJU SETH has been named director of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta at Virginia Tech. Prior to her new role, she was the Pamplin Professor of Management at the university. Seth earned bachelor’s of science honours from the University of Delhi, an MBA from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

JAEHONG KIM has been appointed the Henry P. Becton Sr. Professor of Engineering at Yale University. He most recently served as the Georgia Power Distinguished Professor at Georgia Tech. Kim received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

OLUYEMI (YEMI) AWOLOLA has been named campus director at Altierus Career College at Tampa. He previously was academic dean at the college. Awolola received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s in education technology from Strayer University.

DEMARÉE MICHELAU has been appointed the first female president of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) in Colorado. She currently serves as vice president of policy analysis and research at WICHE. Michelau earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Illinois University and a master’s and Ph.D. degrees from University of Colorado at Boulder.
