MARIA ARVELO LUMPKIN has been appointed interim president of Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is the youngest person to lead the school in its 153-year history. Currently chief operating officer at SAU, Lumpkin holds a bachelor’s degree from SAU, a master’s degree in urban studies from Old Dominion University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy from Clark Atlanta University.

CURTIS CAMPBELL has been appointed director of athletics at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Most recently athletics director at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Campbell holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Longwood University in Virginia and a master’s degree in student affairs administration from Radford University in Virginia. He also served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division after high school.

Currently an assistant professor of biology at Alabama State University and previously president of the International Association of Black Entomologists, Samuel-Foo holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brewton Parker College in Georgia, a master’s in agronomy as well as a Ph.D. in entomology from the University of Georgia.

Also the GSE Centennial Presidential Professor at the school and chair of the Higher Education Division and executive director of the Alliance for Higher Education and Democracy, Perna holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and economics from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a master of public policy degree and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
