Dawkins received a bachelor’s from Johnson C. Smith University, a master’s from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.

Harrell earned a bachelor’s from Wittenberg University, a master’s from Vanderbilt University and a doctorate from Florida State University.
