In this edition, Diverse features Dr. Levi Watkins, a pioneer in the medical field, as well as diversity champion for minority enrollment, staffing and programs at Johns Hopkins University. Diverse also reports on the decline in African-American enrollment in medical schools and the impact the cost to attend is having on this trend, the nursing shortage in America and the accelerated programs available to increase the number of nurses entering this profession from diverse backgrounds, and the expansion of services at student health centers to include mental health care and wellness services.
