Dr. Orlando F. McMeans
Orlando F. McMeans has been named interim president of the Southern University System. McMeans currently holds the position of chancellor of the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center and dean of the College of Agricultural, Human and Environmental Sciences at Southern University and A&M College.
Prior to his current roles, McMeans held leadership positions at West Virginia State College. Also, McMeans served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Public Land-Grant Universities (APLU) and chaired the APLU’s Board on Agriculture Assembly (BAA) Policy Board of Directors.
McMeans holds a bachelor of science degree from Alabama A&M University, and a master of science and Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
