Kecia Williams Smith

Dr. Kecia Williams SmithDr. Kecia Williams Smith Kecia Williams Smith has been named dean of the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University. Smith has served as interim dean since July 23, 2025.

The first N.C. A&T alumna and the second woman to lead the Deese College, the nation’s top-ranked HBCU business school, Smith joined A&T in 2019 as director of the Master of Accountancy program and Center for Accounting Opportunities and associate professor of accounting and finance. Her career includes leadership roles at Deloitte and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), as well as faculty service at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business.

Smith received her B.S. in accounting summa cum laude from A&T before earning her Ph.D. in accounting from Texas A&M University.
