Douglas D. LaVergne

Dr. Douglas D. LaVergneDr. Douglas D. LaVergneDouglas D. LaVergne has been named associate vice president for academic affairs and undergraduate studies at Alabama A&M University (AAMU). LaVergne comes to AAMU from Lincoln University in Missouri, where he served for two years as dean of the College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences, as well as vice president for land grant engagement.

In his new role, LaVergne will be tasked with providing strategic administrative leadership for AAMU’s undergraduate academic programs. According to AAMU, LaVergne will oversee formulating, implementing, and continuously refining policies, procedures, and practices to ensure the effective delivery of baccalaureate-level education at AAMU.

LaVergne earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education with a concentration in agricultural education from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, La., a master of science degree in agricultural and extension education from the University of Arkansas, and a Ph.D. in agricultural education from Texas A&M University.
