Dr. DeNeia B. ThomasDr. DeNeia B. ThomasDeNeia B. Thomas has been named the inaugural vice provost of a new division dedicated to advancing student success at Winston-Salem State University. Thomas brings more than 30 years of experience in education, spanning K-12, state government and higher education. Thomas has served in executive-level positions in higher education including dean, vice president for enrollment and student success, chief of staff and associate provost.

Thomas most recently served as dean of the College of Professional Studies at Lincoln University (Missouri), where she successfully led reaffirmation of accreditation, secured initial accreditation across three schools, and launched a new minor  in entrepreneurship and a Master of Science in Nursing program.

Thomas is a first-generation college graduate and an alumna of Kentucky State University, where she earned a bachelor of science in psychology. She completed her master of science and Ph.D. in educational psychology and her education specialist degree in school psychology from the University of Kentucky.
