Vets Find Education, Expanded Career Options

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Following an accomplished career with the U.S. Army, including two tours of duty in Iraq, Emmit Barris found things were a lot different when he entered the civilian world.

“It was difficult to maintain a job without a college education,” Barris said.

Married with a family, Barris wanted to do better for them.

“It wasn’t until last year I decided to go to school and stop the monotony of going to job-to-job-to-job and not actually having a career,” he said.
