Norwich University has received a two-year $19.5 million grant to lead the creation of the Department of Defense Cyber Institute program, Vermont Business Magazine reported.
NU has been appointed lead institution of the U.S.’s six senior military colleges in the program creation effort – the others are Virginia Military Institute, The Citadel, Virginia Tech, University of North Georgia, and Texas A&M.
The goal is for the six schools to establish a pipeline of cyber professionals.
As lead, NU will spend $4 million to create a program office – led by Dr. Sharon Hamilton, NU associate vice-president of strategic partnerships – that will develop the process and infrastructure for collaboration across the coalition and government partners.
In this first year, the schools will focus on topics such as cross-cultural competence, critical languages and national and international security.
