Arkansas Will Aid 2-Year Students

Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s (R) officially signed the ArFuture grant into law March 2 and will provide students at an Arkansas community college or technical college with two paid years of tuition and fees, which may increase the number of UA transfer students, especially those involved in these technology fields, Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz said.

The grant probably will not have an initial direct effect on the UofA and its students because UA students would not qualify for this funding, but it may be advantageous in increasing the affordability of college particularly in the more expensive fields such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics, Steinmetz said.
