Dr. Carlton E. Brown, president of Savannah State University, stepped down to run a special initiative of the University System of Georgia.
Dr. David G. Carter was named chancellor of the Connecticut State University System. He was formerly the president of Eastern Connecticut State University.
Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, president of Bennett College, announced she will retire in June 2007.
Dr. Jane Fernandes, president-designate of Gallaudet University, was fired by the board of trustees following student protests.
Dr. Adam Herbert, the embattled Indiana University president,n announced that he will leave office at the end of his contract in July 2008.
