Congressional Black Caucus Selects New Leaders

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., will head the Congressional Black Caucus in 2003 after winning a December election among caucus members.

Cummings, who is entering his fourth term, is a Baltimore attorney and former state legislator who has a strong record of support for education. He will replace Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, who served as caucus leader during the recently concluded Congress.
