A Day To Remember

Commemorations of various key moments in the U.S. Civil War, which ended 150 years ago, have come and gone, but this month will present occasions for several more. Although Robert E. Lee surrendered to U.S. Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865, at Appomattox Court House in Virginia, various battles, skirmishes and subsequent surrenders continued through May of that year and beyond.

King received a bachelor’s and a master’s from Florida State University. He also holds a doctorate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

JEANINE E. GANGENESS has been named associate vice president for academic affairs at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, effective July 1. Gangeness previously served as the founding dean of the Bemidji State University School of Nursing in Minnesota. She earned a bachelor’s, a master’s and a doctorate from the University of North Dakota.
