JOAN T.A. GABEL has been named executive vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of South Carolina. She was Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. Dean at the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri. Gabel earned a bachelor’s from Haverford College and a juris doctor from the University of Georgia.

MARCUS A. WHITEHURST has been named vice provost for educational equity at Pennsylvania State University. He was interim vice provost for educational equity at Penn State. Whitehurst holds a bachelor’s and a master’s from Binghamton University, State University of New York, and a master’s and a doctorate from Penn State.
