JUDY J. CHA was named the Carol and Douglas Melamed Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science at Yale University. She was an assistant professor at Yale. Cha earned a bachelor’s from Simon Fraser University and a doctorate from Cornell University.

JUN LIU has been named vice provost for global affairs and dean of international academic programs and services at Stony Brook University. He was associate provost for international initiatives, chief international officer, director of the Confucius Institute and a professor of applied linguistics at Georgia State University. Liu earned a bachelor’s from Suzhou University in China, a master’s from East China Normal University and a doctorate from The Ohio State University.

She was a professor of English and director of the university’s women’s and gender studies program. She earned a bachelor’s from the University of Sierra Leone, a master’s from Dalhousie University in Canada, a master’s from Concordia University in Canada and a doctorate from Emory University.
