State funding cuts lead to sharp tuition hikes at Florida colleges. âAll capital outlay funding was vetoed by the governor,â notes Dr. Rolando Montoya, the provost of Miami Dade College. âThe college continues doing more with less,â says Montoya, adding that the school is trying to keep the budget cuts âout of the classroom, as best as possible.â
