MARIE LYNN MIRANDA
MARIE LYNN MIRANDA has been named provost of Rice University, effective July 1. She was the Samuel A. Graham Dean and a professor in the School of Natural Resources and Environment and a professor of pediatrics and of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Michigan. Miranda earned a bachelor’s from Duke University, and a master’s and a doctorate from Harvard University.

GRETCHEN HOLBROOK GERZINA
GRETCHEN HOLBROOK GERZINA has been appointed dean of the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, effective July 15. She was chair of the department of African and African-American studies, a professor of English and Kathe Tappe Vernon Professor of Biography at Dartmouth College. Gerzina earned a bachelor’s from Marlboro College, a master’s from Simmons College and a doctorate from Stanford University.

MIA TUAN has been appointed dean of the College of Education at the University of Washington. She was a professor of education studies and former interim dean of the College of Education at the University of Oregon. Tuan earned a bachelor’s from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s and a doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles.

NANCY TARGETT has been appointed interim president of the University of Delaware. She was dean of and a professor in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment at Delaware. Targett earned a bachelor’s from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master’s and a doctorate from the University of Maine.

KINA MALLARD has been named president of Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia. She was executive vice president and provost at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
