ALVIN ALVAREZ has been appointed dean of the College of Health and Social Sciences at San Francisco State University. He is interim dean of the College of Health and Social Sciences and a professor at San Francisco State. Alvarez earned bachelor’s degrees from the University of California, Irvine and a master’s and a doctorate from the University of Maryland, College Park.

ANGELA EVANS has been appointed dean of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, effective January 16. She is a clinical professor in the LBJ School. Evans earned a bachelor’s from Canisius College and a master’s from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

AUDREY BILGER has been appointed vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college at Pomona College, effective July 1. She is a professor of literature and founding faculty director of the Center for Writing & Public Discourse at Claremont McKenna College. Bilge earned a bachelor’s from Oklahoma State University, and a master’s and a doctorate from the University of Virginia.

NEWTONA “TINA” JOHNSON has been appointed interim vice provost for academic affairs at Middle Tennessee State University. She was a professor of English and director of the university’s women’s and gender studies program. She earned a bachelor’s from the University of Sierra Leone, a master’s from Dalhousie University in Canada, a master’s from Concordia University in Canada and a doctorate from Emory University.

KEITH YAMAMOTO has been named vice chancellor for science policy and strategy at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). He was vice dean in the School of Medicine and vice chancellor for research at UCSF. Yamamoto earned a bachelor’s from Iowa State University and a doctorate from Princeton University.
