Before retiring in 2025, Dr. Jane Irungu was a member of Utah State University’s executive cabinet as the institution’s first vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion. Joining the university in 2022, she worked with administration, faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders to advance a sense of belonging on campus. Among her goals was creating understanding around what diversity, equity and inclusion are. She saw DEI work as collaborative with the goal of building community.
