A biology major, senior soccer defensive midfi elder Marissa Mastracco of Hobart and William Smith Colleges has a 3.89 cumulative GPA. She subscribes to the concept that taking shortcuts only increases the distance to achievement. Head coach Aliceann Wilber says Mastracco is committed to details and is focused in her studies and on the soccer fi eld. She never makes excuses and is always prepared physically and mentally.
“Our campus culture emphasizes the importance of a student’s global awareness and engagement,” says Wilber. “Marissa’s desire and motivation to help others—whether tutoring fellow students, coaching young people both in and out of the United States, organizing funding and collection of soccer gear in South Africa—have represented our program in only the most positive ways.”
